Students in Ms. Willis' math classes spent their time on an M&M's and ratios lab yesterday. Students had to sort, tally, create ratios, and then find a friend with equivalent ratios. Of course, the best part - they got to eat their creations afterwards!

No internet, no problem! Students in Ms. Holland's science class weren't phased by a lack of technology when they built lunar landers today. Students learned about Newton's three laws and constructed a craft on a shoe-string budget that would deliver their marbles (astronauts) safely back to Earth. Tomorrow will be the big test to see if students lose their marbles!

WVM Students and Families, Thursday, August 31st is an E-Learning Day for all students and teachers. Please take a look at the information provided below - if have any further questions, please reach out to your assigned administrator. Students will receive about 200 minutes of daily instruction (35 minutes per each class) posted on Schoology. Teachers will be available to assist students between the hours of 8AM and 2:30PM. If students lose power/connectivity during the storm, we do understand that they will be unable to complete assignments for the day. Students have three school days to complete and submit their assignments. The three days start on the returning day of school. We hope everyone stays safe as Hurricane Idalia makes it way through the low country. We look forward to seeing all of our students' smiling faces at school again on Friday.

E-Learning
Due to the potential for severe weather resulting from Hurricane Idalia, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools will follow the half-day dismissal bell schedule (https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/school-bell-schedules) on Wednesday, August 30. Thursday, August 31, students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments. All schools and offices will be closed Thursday. BCSD will resume normal operations Friday, September 1. Before and after-school care programs, activities, and athletics, to include practices and games, are canceled for Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31. Normal activities and operations will resume on Friday, September 1. On Thursday, August 31, students will complete eLearning assignments from home via Schoology, Google Classroom, SeeSaw, or other designated virtual learning platforms. Specific information about assignments will be provided by the student’s teacher and/or school. Teachers will share information regarding their office hours to support students completing eLearning assignments at home. More information here: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/elearning-day-faqs Due to the potential for severe weather, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students, staff, and families, the district will not operate virtual feeding sites on Wednesday or Thursday. BCSD officials work in partnership with Berkeley County Emergency Management and receive regular updates regarding the weather from the National Weather Service. As safety and security is our number one priority, officials will continue to monitor the weather and assess any resulting damage. Schools and offices will reopen and resume normal operations on Friday, September 1.
